GISBORNE ROUNDABOUTS AND SAFETY REVIEW (2012)
TRAFFESSIONALS staff were engaged by Gisborne District Council in 2012 to review all 21 of their urban roundabouts for potential safety improvements for pedestrians and cyclists. A report was presented that included recommendations for two new dual-lane C-Roundabouts (Cyclist-Roundabouts) as well as several modifications to existing single-lane roundabouts. The report was well received and many of the proposed works scheduled for construction. In addition several crash sites with existing problems were examined and scheme reports prepared
DUNEDIN CITY COUNCIL CYCLEWAY SAFETY AUDIT AND INVESTIGATIONS (2013)
This audit was for a 6 kilometre length of separated cycleway facility in South Dunedin, and also investigated a tricky intersection for DCC that involved a rail crossing in close proximity.
“Duncan was engaged by Dunedin City Council in 2013 to review the problem definition and the proposed interventions for a site with multiple intermittent road safety issues. His ability to understand a client’s perspective combined with his understanding of traffic engineering enabled him to produce a report that included interventions that had not been considered previously. I would have no hesitation in recommending Duncan for future work” RON MINNEMA, SENIOR TRAFFIC ENGINEER DUNEDIN CITY COUNCIL
CHRISTCHURCH CITY COUNCIL OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT (2013)
TRAFFESSIONALS staff worked on a seconded basis to Christchurch City Council from October to December 2013, and investigated local area safety issues, undertook public consultation, attended community board meetings, and developed numerous safety schemes for future years safety work programmes.
“Duncan is a great reliable guy with a wealth of traffic engineering knowledge and more importantly, actual experience. I had the pleasure of working with Duncan during the last 3 months of 2013 within the Traffic Operations section of the Christchurch City Council Transport and Greenspace Unit. He was of practicular value due to the many unusual situations we were dealing with post earthquake. Duncan his the ability to focus on the real issues required to resolve a traffic engineering problem and always shows his broad skill base by looking at the bigger picture in conjunction with resolving the immediate problem. He also his the ability to look outside the square to come up with the best end result back with sound technical support for that solution. I would have no problem recommending Duncan to carry out any Traffic Engineering works for potential clients of his”
